Microsoft Gearing Up to Make Gaming More Accessible

If you're an avid gamer with limited mobility, you've may have been thinking that your gaming days were over. But much to the delight of differently-abled gamers, Microsoft recently announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller.

The long-awaited product is expected to give hope to people with disabilities across the world.

The recently announced Xbox Adaptive Controller is an exceptional product that sports an eye-catching design and an impeccable cosmetic appearance. On top of that, users will be able to customize the product with the help of upcoming skins from Controller Gear, the only official maker of skins for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Microsoft.

You can choose from a broad range of chic appearance including celestial bodies, camouflage, military, and wood. Controller Gear currently allows users to pick from nine skins. Alternatively, you can go for stickers that add "A" and "B" letters on the large buttons. You can also buy a silicone protector and a travel case.

“Our goal was to make the device as adaptable as possible, so gamers can create a setup that works for them in a way that is plug-and-play, extensible, and affordable,” Phil Spencer, head of Xbox pointed out in a blog post.

With Controller Gear giving users a chance to customize their Xbox Adaptive Controller, it is highly likely that the device will bring more and more people with limited mobility back into gaming. Considering there's scarcity of mainstream products that make gaming more accessible, this is a good start.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller will be soon up for grabs exclusively through Microsoft Stores, bearing a price tag of $99. It is expected to hit other retail store shelves later this year. More information is likely to surface online ahead of the imminent launch. Watch this space for more details.
