UK-based Sunrise Medical has finally revealed to the medical world its latest wheelchair product. The newly announced Quickie Salsa Q100R is a new entry-level, rear-wheel electric-powered wheelchair. This new powered wheelchair was designed by the British company to meet the standards of today’s powerchairs used in both indoor and outdoor settings.
What to expect from the newly released wheelchair
According to the UK-based company, the new Quickie Salsa Q100R is the result of rigorous development and testing using an innovative method known as SMART base technology. The SMART base technology allows the company to test 100s of configurations in order to come out with the right balance (between agility, stability, traction, and maneuverability), creating a precision-measured indoor/outdoor wheelchair. The technology also helped the wheelchair to determine the ideal seating position, ensuring a smooth and safe ride for people with disabilities.
The new wheelchair provides increased maneuverability and navigation for users, especially in tight space. It boasts an ultra-small footprint of 1010 mm long and 540 mm wide, with a tight 1600 mm turning circle.
Weighing 95 kg, the new Quickie is light, portable and easy to hoist in and out of the vehicle, ideal for those day trips out and travelers. It can hit a top speed of about 6kph. It powered by 55 Ah batteries and can travel up to 19 miles on a single charge.
The company has also added a bit of comfort to the new wheelchair. It’s fitted with JAY cushions and backrest for more comfortable seating experience. Additionally, the new wheelchair also offers lots of configuration and fine-tuning. This includes the 5-strap tension adjustable back, which was designed to meet postural requirements. The new wheelchair can also be folded into a compact package for easy packing and transfer to vehicle or storage space.
As for the pricing and availability, the new Quickie Salsa Q100R is currently available for £2,750 (U$3,639). It comes in four colors: blue, black, green and red.
