- Transfer Master adjustable home hospital bed featured on hit ABC show, “Extreme Makeover – Home Edition”
Paralyzed Wichita State baseball legend, husband and father of four receives new home that promotes independence – including a new voice-controlled adjustable home hospital bed
Wichita, KS, (May 3, 2011) – It's a phone call Transfer Master Founder and President Aaron Goldsmith will always remember. A producer from the hit ABC TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, was on the line and she was facing an urgent deadline. She needed to know if Transfer Master could provide an adjustable home hospital bed that was also voice-controlled. The bed would be used in an upcoming episode featuring Carl Hill, a former Wichita State baseball player and father of four who was tragically paralyzed below the shoulders in an auto accident.
Goldsmith told the producer that building the bed wasn't a problem – selling custom built beds to customers is what the company does all the time. The show needed the bed in 24 hours. These types of beds usually take 10 working days to build, but he was confident in the company's ability and said they would build the bed in time for their production.

Transfer Master's bed was featured in the master bedroom on the ABC hit show Extreme Makeover
On April 17, America watched the story of Carl Hall and his family – and witnessed how they have coped and dealt with a tragedy few people can comprehend. And they also saw how the Wichita community rallied behind the show to help build a new home tailored for Carl and his family that will better allow him to cope with his condition. Included in the home was Transfer Master's bed, which was shown and mentioned for its ability to be adjusted up and down with Carl's verbal commands.
The home features 250 additional voice activation controls, an elevator, a therapy room, movie theater, indoor sports room, and a batting cage that allows Carl to once again pitch to his own son.
“It is an honor for Transfer Master to see one of our home hospital beds contributing to the quality of Carl's life,” said Goldsmith. “We have been fortunate to have helped many patients with challenging situations since 1993 and we look forward to continuing to provide sleep solutions for those in need.” Transfer Master adjustable home hospital beds can include special electrical outlets and hooks at the end of the bed that make it easier for healthcare professionals to plug in and hang monitoring and related equipment (keeping it safely out of the way). Transfer Master has also created custom remote controls that include a safety pin feature (to avoid accidental use by others), as well as bedsides made of cherrywood that match the décor of the Hospital Family Care Suites.

- Do double-size, hi-low beds help increase patient satisfaction? Madison, Wisconsin- based Hospital says “yes”
Hospital’s hotel-like suites offer pregnant women and their families all the comforts of home.
MADISON, Wisconsin (December 22, 2010) – Family Care Suites have become a popular addition to many hospitals as they provide a comfortable and pleasant environment for pregnant and new mothers and their families. They feature amenities such as cherry wood décor and specialized adjustable high-low beds that make their stay dramatically more comfortable.
St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin is no exception. They selected Iowa-based Transfer Master to provide 37 double-size, high-low beds for their newly remodeled postpartum unit. St. Mary's selected Transfer Master over others due to its strong reputation and willingness to be flexible in the design process.
“Before remodeling, we trialed a Transfer Master double-size, high-low bed with a few of our new moms. They loved it and said it made a world of difference to their comfort,” said Holly Halberslaben, director of Family Care Suites at St. Mary’s Hospital. “And Transfer Master worked closely with us to provide customized features that will benefit patients and healthcare providers alike.”
The beds include special electrical outlets and hooks at the end of the bed that make it easier for healthcare professionals to plug in and hang monitoring and related equipment (keeping it safely out of the way). Transfer Master also created custom remote controls that include a safety pin feature (to avoid accidental use by others), as well as bedsides made of cherry wood to match the décor of the unit.
“These beds go low, which is great for moms to get in and out of,” Halberslaben explained. “Nearly 90 percent of our moms breastfeed, so having features that allow them to raise their upper body and head are important. These beds can be used to make sure patients are ergonomically correct while ensuring they also are extremely comfortable.”
“We are honored and thrilled to work with St. Mary's Hospital with this installation,” said Aaron Goldsmith, Transfer Master Founder and President. “The staff at St. Mary's challenged our company with detailed requests, each indicating a sincere thoughtful desire to give their patients a wonderful experience.”

- Transfer Master Electric Bed Manufacturer Introduces Major Upgrades to Night Rider and Original Bed Models, Including Built-in Massage System
New bed designs are specifically targeted for residential customers seeking independence or those with part-time caregiver requiring bed that is easy to get into and out of throughout the day without assistance
POSTVILLE, Iowa (October 20, 2010) – Transfer Master Products, Inc., an Iowa-based electric bed manufacturer, announces the release of its newest models; the Night Rider and the Original, featuring a built-in massage system. Responding directly to customer requests, Transfer Master has created industrial-quality medical beds that are designed specifically for the needs and desires of home clients.
Many medical and electric beds are too high for residential use, as they are primarily designed for hospitals and not for the ease of the home caregiver nor disabled/elderly persons living independently. Transfer Master beds are comfortable, attractive and allow the user ultimate independence, allowing them to easily transfer in and out of the bed. They also operate high enough to easily facilitate efficient care giving. The company was the first to pioneer the system of incorporating home styling in industrial-quality medical beds. And unlike nearly every other bed manufacturer, all Transfer Master beds are designed and manufactured in the U.S.A.
The bed design is specifically targeted for home-based customers who seek greater independence or may have a caregiver part-time and needs a bed that is easy to get into and out of throughout the day without assistance.
The beds feature:
- Variable speed massage unit that aids circulation and relieves stiff muscles, helping the user relax and rest
- Single massage controller allowing the user to select the options most comfortable to them
- New mattress and unique styling tailored specifically for home users
“The Night Rider, with the new massage feature, is a great enhancement. Once we were notified of its availability, we immediately ordered a full size version for one of our customers,” said Kenneth Torrence, Director of Rehab, Experea Healthcare “This feature presented a major challenge in the past, as we could not find a quality product like Transfer Master that included a reliable massage feature into its beds. Now, though, we can confidently provide this popular feature to our client base.”
“At Transfer Master, we engineer beds that our customers need based on their requests and suggestions drive our design process,” says Aaron Goldsmith, founder and president of Transfer Master. “We believe strongly in manufacturing domestically and consistently deliver a durable, long-lasting product to our customers and it is that commitment that has given us an excellent reputation among users, hospitals and caregivers.”
Transfer Master listens to customers and builds its beds specifically to meet the precise needs of users. The electronic boards of the newest models were designed by a U.S. defense contractor. The beds are innovatively designed and solidly manufactured, creating a long-lasting product that allows its users the features they need and the comfort they deserve.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Today’s the first full day of the International Sleep Products Assn. Expo here, and it features what is sure to be one of the show highlights: The return of the "insomniaczzz," the mattress industry’s homegrown band. The band made a rousing debut two years ago at the ISPA Expo in Baltimore, and returns to action tonight with an all-new playlist featuring "One Hit Wonders." I have it on good authority that one of those hits is "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly. That translates, loosely, as "May the gods bless our humble mattress industry." [Read More]

A new adjustable bed targeted to the home market from Transfer Master Products offers the ultimate in convenience: it’s portable, adjustable, and can be assembled in under ten minutes – without tools.
Lightweight, sturdy and constructed of high-grade steel, the bed is manufactured in the U.S. and features a high-quality, non-institutional look that’s designed for in-home use and fits attractively into virtually any bedroom setting. Transfer Master standard specs include head and foot rails, smooth-rolling casters and availability in twin, full, queen, dual king and high-low models.
The new one-person-assembly bed offers consumers simple shipping and set-up. The bed can be shipped via FedEx ground instead of special truck delivery. One person can easily carry in and assemble the bed without the use of special tools, compared with conventional products, which often may require a two-man crew and technician set-up.
"We consider this the first portable, adjustable, cash and carry bed on the market," says Aaron Goldsmith, Transfer Master president and co-founder. "In fact, a consumer can purchase the bed from a local dealer, bring it home and set it up immediately. These benefits are extremely important for consumers who need to quickly accommodate an injured or ill family member."

During the week of March 3, 2010, there will be a rebirth of one of America’s most reliable adjustable beds. The Maxwell Kbed will be displayed in Booth #2535 at the International Sleep Products Association in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Aaron Goldsmith, President of Transfer Master Products, Inc. explained, "We were fortunate to be in the right place at the right time when Leggett and Platt, Inc. (LEG on the NYSE), downsized their adjustable bed division. Leggett offered the line to us and we grabbed it! We were able to acquire this legacy product with its outstanding reliable service record. We also acquired the rights to the Maxwell name."
"Our strategy was to master the manufacturing process, while quietly looking for a few customers that could grow with us. We partnered with one of the Internet’s leading adjustable bed marketers and with a specialty furniture producer. We successfully integrated this line into the company and we will be presenting the Maxwell Kbed to the rest of the world at the ISPA show in early March."
The Kbed remains one of America’s last domestically manufactured adjustable beds. This comfortable adjustable bed can be ordered with wireless dual massage as well as a simple wired hand control. Adjustable beds are often seen as home styled hospital beds for those suffering from mild medical conditions.
Transfer Master Products, Inc has been producing quality electric beds since 1993 and is located in Postville, Iowa. Transfer Master has received a number of patents for its line of custom adjustable hi-low beds.
The company’s sales channels include medical dealers, furniture stores and online sales, while its’ customer base ranges from residential users, hotels, sleep centers and maternity wards. For more information, contact sales@transfermaster.com or call 800-475-8122.

Transfer Master Products, Inc., of Postville, Iowa, bought the rights to the name and the intellectual property. President Aaron Goldsmith explained, “We felt that this was great opportunity for our company and a good fit! We studied the beds, reengineered them and put the new improved beds back on the market!”
Scott Carpenter, American Massage’s New Show Director was filled with praise for the rebirth of the company. “We have shown the bed now in three regional shows and the response from our customers was outstanding. Despite competition and a slow economy, our New American Massage Beds have sold quite well!
