Golf Society Raises Funds for People With Disabilities

A golf society in Wales has raised a considerable amount of money for a Harrogate Charity called Disability Action Yorkshire. Harrogate is a town in North Yorkshire, England, east of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The golf society, which goes by the name of Talacre Beach Golf Society, raised the sum of £3,665 through its year-long program. The club, which was formed in 2000, has a tradition where the player holding the club captaincy, which rotates among players on an annual basis, gets the right to chose the charity that will be supported by the club. This support is rendered through a number of activities that will end in an evening of entertainment which will feature an auction and a raffle. This will be preceded by a golf day which will hold at the Rhuddlan Golf Club.

Disability Action Yorkshire was selected by Stephen Paul who is the club captain for this year. His choice was influenced by the fact that the charity's Claro Road residential care home has been his brother-in-law Ian Slattery's longtime residence.

Signed football shirts and a seven-day stay in a lodge at the Caravan park which is the first place the golf society members met first are among the items used to raise the money for the charity.

The Chief Executive of the Disability Action Yorkshire expressed the gratitude of the charity to the captain and the members of the Talacre Golf Society for choosing Disability Action Yorkshire.

According to him, the Disability Action Yorkshire, like all charities, is dependent on the magnanimity of individuals, businesses, and organizations that give grants to promote charitable causes in order to be able to continue the work of providing aid for disabled people in the Harrogate District.

Disability Action Yorkshire is a charity and a social enterprise that helps people with disabilities by rendering services that can provide opportunities for them. The charity's services include training, personal assistance, provision of a holiday lodge, assistive technology and a residential care home.
